Less than a week after succumbing to a long battle with cancer,  Farrah Fawcett was laid to rest on Tuesday during a ceremony held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels in Los Angeles.

As the hearse bearing Fawcett’s body pulled up to the church, longtime love Ryan O’Neal (who was also spotted wearing what looked like a simple, gold wedding ring), best friend Alana Stewart, and a handful of men waited outside to receive her.

Former fellow Charlie’s Angels Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson were also spotted entering the ceremony. Eight pallbearers brought her coffin- which was covered with a huge bouquet of orange, yellow and white flowers- into the church shortly before the church bells began to ring.

Her son Redmond was also on hand and read the first reading from the Bible (Lamentations 3: 17 – 26). Ryan read the second reading (Wisdom 3: 1- 9).

The program passed out at the ceremony was an ode to the icon’s glamorous persona. On the cover of the pamplet, Fawcett- in a sequined dress- is shown giving a million-dollar smile to the camera as her trademark hair runs curly and free.

Inside the cover the words of James Joyce set the tone for the somber event. From his quoted poem At That Hour:

Play on, invisible harps, unto Love,

Whose way in heaven is aglow

At that hour when soft lights come and go,

Soft sweet music in the air above

And in the earth below.

At the end of the ceremony, Fawcett’s casket was carried out by Ryan, Redmond, and six pallbearers as bagpipes solemnly played. After standing by as they closed the doors of the hearse, Redmond helped his grandmother and grandfather get into a limo and drive away.

Ryan spoke to a few of the attendees outside the church and waved to the crowd gathered across the street before getting into his own limo.

Tony Romo Sees Nothing Crazy About Life with Jessica!

Tony Romo may be under intense pressure as star quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, but one thing’s for sure: His relationship with Jessica Simpson “is not hard.”

“It’s a normal relationship,” Romo, smiling and relaxed, told PEOPLE during batting practice at Yankee Stadium as Starter athletic gear chaperone to Ben Brant, a 10-year-old Albany, N.Y., boy diagnosed with leukemia.

“There’s nothing exotic or crazy about it,” Romo, 29, says of Simpson. “We’re two people who care about each other, and it’s not hard to make it work when both of you want to see the other one. We make each other happy.”

As for how their relationship is faring, “It’s going good,” he says. “We have a fun being around each other. She’s a great girl. We enjoy each other’s company.”

When it comes to questions regarding his shape – earlier this month, Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett suggested Romo was “bottom-heavy” – the ballplayer says: “That’s just for other people to talk about. All you can do is put your head down and go to work each day and try to achieve. It’s all about just trying to achieve a goal and working hard to do it.”

Not that he’s suggesting a break before he reports to training camp. “I’m not a big vacation guy,” says Romo. “For me, it’s fun just playing games and I get to play a sport for a living. In some ways I’m lucky because I don’t need a vacation because I get to live out what I love to do.”

DAVID BECKHAM has his hands full when it comes to impressing missus VICTORIA on wedding anniversaries. Flowers from the garage and maybe a bit more effort between the sheets aren’t good enough.

The two tied the knot ten years ago this Saturday and Becks has come up with something spectacular — a romantic break to ultra-exclusive Necker Island.

A source said: “Becks has pulled in a few favours. He has bought Victoria a lot of other gifts to mark the occasion but the big surprise is the holiday to Necker.

“RICHARD BRANSON owns the paradise island and sorted the trip out, including all the travel arrangements. It will be something to remember.”

The Beckham wedding was one of the most lavish celebrity bashes ever. A real achievement considering GARY NEVILLE was best man. 

The thrones at Luttrellstown Castle will go down in garish wedding stat history. Hats off to them, though. They have had their ups and downs, three kids and a few Airmiles to test them.

Add “creepy dog lady” to Amy Winehouse’s list of nicknames, because apparently that is her new thang up in St. Lucia.

According to The Sun, Amy, who has now taken up residence in the Cotton Bay complex on the Caribbean island, has been playing mother hen to tons of pooches.

Sounds cute, right? Well maybe you should know that there is now a hardcore flea outbreak on la isla not so bonita because of all the little doggies. Not so cute anymore, is it?

The management of her swanky spread told Amy that she could no longer house animals in her quarters. Afterward, they called Robomaid to deep clean her suite from top to bony bottom.

A source told the paper, “Management initially turned a blind eye to what Amy was doing. But she’s adopted about five or six dogs now. They’re all strays, without the proper vaccinations and they all have fleas.”

It’s like a very R-rated “101 Dalmatians,” where Spot accidentally swallows some pills and the rest of the puppies have to rush him to the vet while trying not to wake Cruella de Vino from her stooper. I’d watch that.

A source who watched Jacko’s final rehearsal in LA said: “Michael was in better form than for years.

“He was preparing for what would have been an absolutely incredible show.

“He was laughing and joking with his dancers. He seemed to have so much energy — it’s hard to believe that 48 hours later he was dead.”

Photographer Kevin Mazur, who took the shots, said: “When he hit the stage I was thrilled that the magical Michael Jackson was back.”

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are playing show and tell.

On Monday, the couple, who greeted twin daughters Marion and Tabitha June 22, released a picture of the beautiful new additions to their family. The girls, born via a surrogate.

Born at 3:58 p.m., Marion Loretta Elwell weighed 5 lbs., 11 oz, and Tabitha Hodge Broderick weighed 6 lbs. “Both Hodge and Elwell are family names on Parker’s side,” the statement explains.

The news first broke in April that the couple were adding to their family by having twin daughters with the help of a surrogate mother. Broderick, 47, and Parker, 44, have a son, James Wilkie, 6.

Tennis star ANNA Kournikova got into a fight Saturday night in Las Vegas after an unidentified woman threw a drink at her.

Kournikova and her pals were having a good time partying at Lavo after attending the Hardbat Classic table tennis tournament when a woman at the next table “threw a drink at Anna. She felt Anna was invading her space,” according to a source.

We hear that Kournikova “sprung into action” and starting screaming at the woman and shoving her. “It was a big fight,” The woman was kicked out only after leaving Kournikova with some vicious scratch marks on her neck. Kournikova’s rep didn’t return calls.

NICKY Hilton continues to prove money can’t buy class. The hotel heiress and boyfriend David Katzenberg were spotted sitting outside East Hampton club Lily Pond Saturday night, “watching people try to get inside and laughing at them when they were rejected,” said our spy.

Instead of having a good time inside during the Absolut Vodka party, Hilton “stayed outside, hysterically laughing every time someone wasn’t let in. She was loving it.” Finally, the tipster told us, Katzenberg “dragged Nicky inside” where she partied until 1 a.m.

CHRIS Brown was supposed to make his return to the stage last weekend at the BET Awards at LA’s Shrine Auditorium, but Jay-Z pulled the plug on the plans.

Brown — who’s been low-key since beating up his ex-girlfriend (and Jay-Z’s artist), Rihanna, earlier this year — was supposed to take part in a Michael Jackson tribute. But a source said, “Jay-Z wasn’t having it. He threatened to pull out of the show if Chris was involved, so BET dropped Chris.”

A rep for Brown said, “That’s not true — he was never confirmed to perform.” Brown was close to Jackson and performed “Thriller” at the World Music Awards in 2006.

UPDATE:!!!

An inside source revealed that the Reverend Al Sharpton was also one of the objectors to Brown’s presence at the event.  “Al made such a fuss to the BET executives that they pulled Chris.” You all know Al attended with Joe Jackson!!!
