RIHANNA HONORED BY GLAMOUR MAGAZINE AT THE 2009 WOMAN OF THE YEARS AWARDS!

An emotional Rihanna stole the limelight at a women’s awards ceremony in New York when she won the Woman Of The Year trophy at the star-studded Glamour magazine bash.
Rihanna was all glamour and elegance. She wore for a stunning floor-length mermaid gown by Stephane Rolland. She admitted, it was far too tight and impractical, but she obviously wanted something special to cap a momentous year.
The 21-year-old was being honoured by the U.S. edition of the women’s magazine for her career, fashion sense, charity work and her bravery following her assault by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.
Accepting her award from veteran supermodel Iman on stage at Carnegie Hall, Rihanna admitted she had to enter the stage from backstage because she couldn’t walk up the stairs in the outfit.
Wiping a tear from her eye, Rihanna apologised: ‘Sorry, I’m PMS-ing.’
She said: ‘I couldn’t possibly make it up here in this dress. As usual, I decided to wear the tightest dress I could find.’
David Bowie’s model wife Iman, presented Rihanna with the following statement:
This year, we saw a different face of Rihanna. ’She’s an indelible image of worldly pain and now, more than ever, I am more than impressed with her honesty and courage. She has taken her own scars and used them to create a new story of strength and awareness.’
Riri received her award just days after she broke her silence over her assault on a televised Good Morning America interview.
