THIS IS SO SAD AND SHOCKING!!!

VIA NY TIMES:

DJ AM, a high-profile disc jockey who was as famous for his much-chronicled relationships as he was for his creative scratching and mixing on the celebrity club circuit, was found dead on Friday evening in his apartment in Manhattan, the police said.

The police said his body was found in his seventh-floor apartment in SoHo about 5:30 p.m. after friends had tried unsuccessfully to reach him for days. The chief police spokesman, Paul J. Browne, said the police did not suspect foul play.

DJ AM, 36, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, was discovered face-down in his bed wearing only sweatpants, with a crack pipe and unspecified prescription drugs nearby, an official said.
Emergency workers had to break down the door to get in after one of the friends who had been trying to reach Mr. Goldstein called 911 on Friday.
In an interview with The New York Times in 2007, Mr. Goldstein said he drank heavily, used cocaine and smoked crack in his early 20s, reaching his lowest point when he attempted suicide in 1997. But he also said he had cleaned up his life — including having gastric bypass surgery after his weight ballooned to 324 pounds — and had managed to stay sober for nine years.
“At my core I am a glutton, so I’ve had to learn everything in moderation,” he said at the time.
In October, The Associated Press reported, MTV was to begin his new reality show, “Gone Too Far,” in which he and concerned families staged interventions for drug abusers.
He also survived a plane crash a year ago that nearly killed him.
A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Goldstein was known for his “mash up” style of spinning, in which he jumped across various genres and eras to combine songs from artists as different as Jay-Z and Journey.
He had been a familiar figure on the Los Angeles club circuit since the 1990s, but it was his highly publicized relationships with Nicole Richie and other starlets in recent years that earned him B-list stardom. He was featured in an episode of “Entourage” on HBO, and he commanded fees in the tens of thousands of dollars to spin at nightclubs in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York.
In 2006, he presided at a party during Super Bowl XL in Detroit that was attended by three generations of the Henry Ford family.
Mr. Goldstein was seriously injured Sept. 19, in the crash of a Learjet 60 plane in Columbia, S.C. The crash killed four people and injured Travis Barker, a musician and former drummer of the group Blink-182, with whom Mr. Goldstein frequently appeared. On Friday night, throngs of friends and fans gathered outside Mr. Goldstein’s apartment building at 210 Lafayette Street. Many described him as a friendly and approachable man who was serious about his music and who always stopped to talk to fans who recognized him. Mr. Goldstein regularly posted messages on Twitter, including one final, poetic note — lyrics from a Grandmaster Flash song — that he posted on Tuesday.

Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, a son of one of the most storied families in American politics, a man who knew triumph and tragedy in near-equal measure and who will be remembered as one of the most effective lawmakers in the history of the Senate, died Tuesday night. He was 77 .

The death of Mr. Kennedy, who had been battling brain cancer, was announced Wednesday morning in a statement by the Kennedy family.

“Edward M. Kennedy – the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply – died late Tuesday night at home in Hyannis Port,” the statement said. “We’ve lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever.

”Mr. Kennedy had been in precarious health since he suffered a seizure in May 2008. His doctors determined the cause had been a malignant glioma, a brain tumor that often carries a grim prognosis.

As he underwent cancer treatment, Mr. Kennedy was little seen in Washington, appearing most recently at the White House in April as Mr. Obama signed a national service bill that bears the Kennedy name.

Eunice Shriver, mother of Maria shriver and sister of President John F. Kennedy, Sen. Robert Kennedy and Sen. Edward Kennedy has died at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis near the kennedy family compound.

According to a statement released by the family, Eunice who had suffered a series of strokes in recent years died at 2:00 a.m. this morning.

As celebrity, social worker and activist, Shriver was credited with transforming America’s view of the mentally disabled from institutionalized patients to friends, neighbors and athletes. Her efforts were inspired in part by the struggles of her mentally disabled sister, Rosemary.

Peter Collier, author of “The Kennedys, an American Drama,” called Eunice Shriver the “moral force” of the Kennedy family.

She was a social worker at a women’s prison in Alderson, W.Va., and worked with the juvenile court in Chicago in the 1950s before taking over the Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation with the goal of improving the treatment of the mentally disabled. The foundation was named for her oldest brother, Joseph Jr., who was killed in World War II.

Kim Kardashian debuted her new look as a blonde at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Back in April the reality star was seen walking around as a blonde, but later admitted it was a wig.

Hmm… Doesn’t she resembles Carmen Ortega the stripper/model her ex-boyfrien Reggie Bush had an affair with?

Kim wrote on her official website: “This time it’s for real, guys! I went blonde!!! I had been considering it ever since I wore that blonde wig, and I just decided to go for it!! What do you think? I am really loving it! I’m debuting my new look at the Teen Choice Awards tonight! Can’t wait to hit the red carpet as a blonde!”

HEY! THEY SAY… BLONDES HAVE MORE FUN!

Forty eight years ago today President Barack Obama was born, despite what the Birthers insist, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

It was 1961. John F. Kennedy, still the youngest person ever elected president at age 43, was in the White House. And with African Americans unable to sit undisturbed at many downtown lunch counters in the South, the thought that a black man would be marking his birthday a few decades later while sitting at his desk in the Oval Office would have seemed like a pipe dream to most people.
But that’s where we are. America is still capable of surprising itself.
Forty-eight isn’t one of the big birthdays, like those divisible by 5.
So the White House isn’t planning anything big. There will be no over-the-top birthday event, like “Beyonce singing Happy Birthday, Mr. President” at a packed sports arena a la Marilyn Monroe.
Instead, Robert Gibbs, the White House Press Secretary, said he would get back to journalists with details about how Obama plans to celebrate his birthday. Gibbs was able to tell us that the president will meet at the White House with the entire Senate Democratic Caucus today. Maybe they’ll favor him with a chorus of “Happy Birthday.”

Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson are getting equal attention in September’s Vanity Fair.

Half of the copies will feature a cover photograph of Fawcett by Bruce McBroom; the other half will feature a cover photograph of Jackson by Annie Leibovitz.

Subscribers will get one of the two at random, but the magazines, which will include the same content, will be on newsstands nationwide Aug. 11. USA TODAY runs down talking points from the articles on the two celebrities, who died June 25.

NICELY DONE!

This is the first marriage for both.

After an almost two years of engagement and five years of dating prior, 33-year-old, Ali Larter and actor Hayes MacArthur tied the knot. The intimate ceremony took place yesterday, Saturday at Hayes parents’ estate in Kennebunkport, Maine.

The guests arrived at the wedding on trolleys to the tune of Irish music in honor of the groom’s heritage.  The gorgeous, intimate ceremony took place outside on the estate’s lawn.

The blushing bride was walked down the aisle by her dad. Ali’s BFF, actress Amy Smart and former Varsity Blues costar was among the guests.

“Since I was 15 years old, all I wanted was to find the guy I was going to marry. My heart got broken so many times because I put so much pressure on it. And then .. I got blindsided,” she told February’s Cosmopolitan of MacArthur. She said he “showed me the way, and all was right. This is how it’s supposed to be.”

It’s been a great year for Ali, as she kicked butt in her role as Lisa a sexy temp in the film “Obsessed” with Beyonce Knowles and Idris Elba.

Asked about her future, she told US  magazine in 2007, “I look forward to that time when I’m home with babies.”

EXPECT THE TWO TO START A FAMILY SOON! CONGRATS!
