FROM CNN:

(CNN) — In 2003, the BET Awards had a priceless moment when Michael Jackson surprised his idol, James Brown, by showing up on stage where the duo thrilled the audience with an electrifying performance. Now, both the King of Pop and the Godfather of Soul are gone.

Sunday night’s 9th Annual BET Awards is sure to be filled with tributes to Jackson, whose videos and performances were a staple for the network in his heyday. BET has already paid tribute to the singer, going wall-to-wall with Jackson videos Thursday night.

Many of the celebrities scheduled to attend the show were also fans of the singer and it is expected that the night will provide an opportunity for them to salute the star.

“Words cannot capture the impact Michael Jackson has had on pop culture around the world,” said Debra L. Lee, chairman and chief executive officer of BET Networks. “He changed the way we hear and feel and move to music; he epitomized what true musical talent and star power really mean. He is and always will be the King of Pop.”

Academy Award-winning actor and R&B singer Jamie Foxx is set to host the show.  Several of the scheduled performers include artists, such as Ne-Yo and Beyonce, who have acknowledged the influence of Jackson on their music and careers.

The annual event is a premier one for the network and this year’s plan was to recognize the musical legacy and longstanding career of the legendary soul trio, the O’Jays, with the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Artists Alicia Keys and Wyclef Jean are to be honored with the Humanitarian Award for their respective charitable work.

BET CEO Lee said Sunday’s show will be dedicated to Jackson and will also pay tribute to his legacy.

Lee reflected on Jackson’s career and his importance to BET — which stands for Black Entertainment Television — in a prepared statement after his death, while also offering heartfelt prayers for the singer’s family and friends.

“Michael’s influence is felt every day in so many ways at BET Networks, and it’s been that way throughout our network’s entire 29-year history,” she said. “We watched him grow up and, like everyone around the world, he feels like he is a member of our family.

“He will be missed more than we can say … but his legend and memory live on in the artists, musicians, producers, dancers, fans and everyone else who looks to him for inspiration.”

Elizabeth tweeted, “Just finished Reebok photoshoot for NFL maternity tees! They even had chips and cookies for me!”

Elisabeth also told WWD at the shoot: “I actually did a design internship at Reebok years ago. The NFL has a tremendous amount of female fans. Watching a game can be a real family bonding experience, and I can tell you that the women behind the games are truly the most intense of the fans.”

Elisabeth, who is due with her third child on August 11, said that after wearing the shirts on set all day, “they have a great fit, they are super soft and nice and long so you can easily wear them over your workout pants.”

VIA ACCESS HOLLYWOOD!

Following Michael Jackson’s tragic sudden death on Thursday, many wondered about the state of the singer’s three children. According to Brian Oxman, the Jackson family attorney, they “are doing fine.”

“They are in the care of a nanny,” Oxman told Us Weekly. “Ms. Jackson (Michael’s mother, Katherine) will care for them and I’m sure there will be all kinds of discussions that will take place about the kids.”

Oxman said Jackson’s three children are “just beautiful. “They’re well-trained, well educated and extraordinarily talented. They get to play with their cousins and their nieces and their nephews. They are just smarter than smart can be.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Prince Michael Jackson II (sometimes known as Blanket), 7, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael, 12 gathered with the Jackson family at the home of Joe and Katherine Jackson in Encino, California following their father’s death. FOR THE REST OF THIS STORY.

IN RELATED NEWS:

Debbie Rowe, gave up all her parental rights when the children were born and she is not in line to take custody. There have been reports that she may get temporary custody until long-term guardians are confirmed.

The youngest child “Blanket” was supposedly carried by an anonymous surrogate mother. And there have been some allegations that have arose that the children look absolutely nothing like him but Jackson had publically claimed that his sperm was used in their creation.

If the biological mothers or Jackson’s family don’t immediately come to take care of the children there’s always their godparents. Mark Lester (the star of Oliver), the godfather of one or two of the children, told MSNBC that he is ready to fulfill his godfatherly duties saying “I’m here for them 24/7, so whatever they need, they’ll get from me.”

Also it is reported that Elizabeth Taylor and Macaulay Culkin are godparents to the older children as well. And Michael Jackson just happens to be the godfather to celebrity Nicole Ritchie and to Barry Gibb’s son Michael.

ACCORDING TO THE LOS ANGELES TIMES:

Jackson’s death is a blow to concert promoter AEG. The L.A. company had sunk millions into the star’s comeback, despite warnings that it a was a major risk.

With Jackson’s death, AEG will have to refund the $85 million worth of tickets that were sold. Gone are the company’s expected profits — an estimated $115 million, according to Billboard — as well as plans for a global three-year tour that the company had predicted would gross $450 million.

“They are taking a big hit,” said Gary Bongiovanni, editor of concert-tracking publication Pollstar. Among the company’s immediate priorities, he said, will be trying to find other acts to fill the O2, a 20,000-seat arena that does not rely on resident sports teams to occupy its seats. Jackson concerts were scheduled to run through March.

“They will be able to re-book some of those shows. But those in July, the building will probably be dark. You have an empty building, and that’s going to have an impact on their London operations, certainly,” he said.

AEG struggled to get affordable insurance for the shows, given Jackson’s history of canceling tours and his 12-year hiatus from performing. Chief executive Randy Phillips vowed to self-insure the shows if carriers wouldn’t, and ultimately the company secured coverage for what Phillips called “the first $23 million.”

A tragedy for his family and a heartbreak to his fans, Michael Jackson’s death also represents a blow to the L.A. concert promoter that staked its reputation on and sunk tens of millions of dollars into a lavish comeback that will never happen.

AEG Live billed “This Is It,” the sold-out concert series that was to have opened July 13 in London, as the most expensive and technologically advanced arena show ever. It had invested more than $20 million to mount a production that was to have included up to 22 sets, elaborate light shows and high-wire acts. The company, which owns the Staples Center among many other venues, had also set aside 50 nights at its coveted European showplace, the O2 Arena.  FOR THE COMPLETE STORY.

MICHAEL JACKSON HAS DIED!

BREAKING NEWS TOTALLY SHOCKING!

LOS ANGELES (CBS)

King of Pop Michael Jackson reportedly died Thursday at a Los Angeles hospital where he was rushed around 1 p.m. PT by paramedics, according to the Los Angeles Times. Jackson, 50, reportedly suffered cardiac arrest.

Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times earlier Thursday that paramedics responded to a call at Jackson’s home around 12:26 p.m. Ruda said Jackson was not breathing when they arrived.

A law enforcement source told the LA Times that Jackson was declared dead Thursday afternoon after arriving in a deep coma.

Jackson had announced months ago that he would be doing a comeback tour, but his representatives announced in May that the the star would postpone several of his London shows scheduled for this summer.

Jackson, who has sold more than 750 million albums and won 13 Grammys, hasn’t undertaken a a major tour since 1997 or released an album of new material since 2001.

The 50-year-old singer has been seen in public infrequently since he was acquitted of child molestation in California in 2005. He has struggled to pay his debts, and was forced last year to give up the deed to Neverland, his 2,500-acre ranch and miniature amusement park in California.

On May 20, Jackson’s representatives announced several postponments to his London comeback shows scheduled for this summer. The opening night at the 02 Arena had been set for July 8 but was be moved back to July 13, promoters said. In addition, other shows scheduled for July were moved to 2010.

The delays fueled speculation that Jackson was suffering from health ailments.

Also in May, his publicist and general manager filed a $44 million lawsuit against the pop star claiming he has not paid her for deals she’s made. Raymone Bain of Washington had been Jackson’s spokeswoman for more than five years, speaking on his behalf in all sorts of matters including his child molestation trial. Three years ago, Jackson expanded her role by appointing her the head of the Michael Jackson Co. Inc. and his personal general manager.

In November 2008, Jackson was reportedly too sick to travel to London to testify in a suit claiming he owes an Arab sheikh $7 million. Jackon sought to give his testimony by video link from the United States.

Jackson has often been seen wearing a surgical mask in public. In one infamous 2002 court appearance in California, he appeared to have a bandage hanging from his hollowed-out nose.

Despite much speculation about his radically changed appearance over the years, he has denied having had any alterations to his face other than two operations on his nose to help him breathe better to hit higher notes.

Jackson, a twice-divorced father of three, said during his 50th birthday celebration last year that he aims to provide a a normal life for his children.

“I am letting them enjoy their childhood as much as possible. … I let them go to the arcade and go to the movies and do things. I think that comes naturally. I want them to get to do things I didn’t get to do,” he said.

“I get pretty emotional when I see them having a wonderful time,” he said.

As for his career, Jackson said he’s “looking forward to doing a lot of great things. … I think the best is yet to come in my true humble opinion.”

He said recording the blockbuster albums “Thriller” and “Off the Wall” were the happiest times of his life.

“That meant very much to me and seemed to be received so beautifully by the public and the world. You know, I enjoyed it very much,” he said.

REST IN PEACE!

Farrah Fawsett died this morning at 9:28 a.m. at St. John’s Heath Center in Santa Monica, Calif. She was with longtime partner Ryan O’Neal, friend Alana Stewart, friend and hairdresser Mela Murphy and her doctor Lawrence Piro. She had recently returned to St. John’s for treatment of complications from anal cancer, first diagnosed three years ago.

RYAN ONEIL TOLD PEOPLE:

“She’s gone. She now belongs to the ages,” O’Neal tells PEOPLE, also confirming that she received the last rites of the Catholic Church. “She’s now with her mother and sister and her God. I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much. She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night. I told her how very much I loved her. She’s in a better place now.”

Added O’Neal: “She was with her team when she passed … Her eyes were open, but she didn’t say anything. But you could see in her eyes that she recognized us.”

Though O’Neal recently said that he and Fawcett had planned to wed, they did not tie the knot. “There just wasn’t time, and Farrah wasn’t in any condition to do it,” says O’Neal.

Friends and family plan to honor Fawcett with a funeral service at a Catholic cathedral in Los Angeles in the next few days.

Fawcett, whose celebrity overshadowed her ability as a serious actress, was diagnosed with a rare anal cancer in 2006, died about 9:30 a.m. at St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, said Paul Bloch, her publicist.

ACCORDING TO THE DAILY NEWS:

AUDREY HEPBURN STAMP FETCHED $93,000 AT AUCTION!

BERLIN – A rare stamp portraying movie star Audrey Hepburn smoking sold for $93,800 at an auction in Germany Tuesday. Both buyer and seller were anonymous. Only five copies of the 2001 stamp are known to exist.

The print run was ordered destroyed after Hepburn’s son, Sean Ferrer, objected to the cigarette holder dangling from the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” star’s mouth and refused to grant copyright.

Thirty proof copies escaped incineration. Most probably ended up in the trash can, but a few have wound up in the hands of collectors.

“We can only guess that whoever took the Hepburn stamps from Deutsche Post didn’t realize their value, thought they would save 55 cents and just used them on normal letters,” auctioneer Andreas Schlegel said.

Hepburn died of colon cancer in 1993. Her son said he hoped the stamp seller would use his windfall to benefit cancer research or an anti-smoking campaign.
